The Local Local Tours Experience
What makes Local Local Tours different from other tours in Singapore?
Our tours are centered on deep cultural storytelling and authentic local experiences. You are investing in an intimate and rich journey that goes beyond the sights and tastes:
-
Small-Group Intimacy: We limit our group sizes (maximum 8 guests) to allow for genuine interaction, easier navigation of Singapore’s vibrant neighborhoods and busy food centers, and a more personalized experience.
-
Cultural Storytelling: Our expert local guides weave cultural narratives and surprising historical context into every stop, ensuring you understand the significance of what you are seeing and tasting.
-
Local Focus: We take you to genuine local haunts and hidden gems that bigger tours often miss, allowing you to experience the real Singapore.
How long do the tours typically last?
The duration varies by itinerary, but our standard small-group tours typically run between 3 to 4 hours. Please check the individual tour page for exact timings.
How much walking is involved? Are the tours physically demanding?
Our tours are designed as comfortable walking tours at a leisurely pace. You should be prepared to be standing or walking for much of the duration, but we include frequent rest and air-conditioned stops. We often utilize Singapore’s efficient public transportation system (MRT/Bus) to cover longer distances. If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can advise on the best route for your needs.
What should I wear and bring?
We recommend:
• Comfortable flat shoes for walking.
• Light, breathable clothing suitable for Singapore's tropical, humid climate.
• A reusable water bottle (hydration is key!).
• An umbrella or light poncho for sun protection and sudden rain showers.
What happens if it rains?
All of our tours run rain or shine. We utilize covered walkways and sheltered rest areas whenever possible. We highly recommend bringing an umbrella or poncho, as tropical showers can be sudden but rarely last long.
Food Tour Specifics & Dietary Needs
How much food is included in a food tour?
Our food tours are a comprehensive tasting experience and feature 12 or more authentic local dishes, snacks, and drinks.
What kind of cuisine will we be tasting?
You will be immersed in the diversity of Singapore’s UNESCO-recognized Hawker Culture. We showcase the fascinating culinary fusion that defines Singaporean heritage, taking you on a journey through local history as told through our authentic, multicultural food traditions.
I have dietary restrictions or allergies. Can you accommodate them?
We are happy to accommodate common restrictions where possible, provided you inform us at the time of booking. However, our tours visit authentic local food centers and stalls where ingredients are pre-prepared. Substitutions for key tasting dishes may not always be possible, and we cannot guarantee against cross-contamination (especially for severe allergies). If you have a serious allergy, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the feasibility of your participation.
Are your tours suitable for vegetarians?
Yes, our guides can offer curated vegetarian alternatives. However, please note that due to the nature of authentic hawker cuisine, the number and variety of dishes may be different from the standard itinerary. Please specify your preference clearly when booking.
Booking, Payment, & Cancellation
How do I book a tour?
You can view all available dates and book directly on our website, www.locallocaltours.com, using our secure online booking system. We recommend booking in advance to secure your spot, as our groups are intentionally kept small.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We understand that travel plans can change.
-
Full Refund: If you cancel 7 days or more before the tour start time.
-
50% Refund: If you cancel between 1 and 6 days before the tour start time.
-
No Refund: For cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour start time or for no-shows.
Should I tip my guide?
Tipping is not mandatory in Singapore, but if you feel your guide provided an excellent experience and cultural insight, a gratuity is a wonderful way to say thank you. A common gratuity for exceptional service in the tourism industry is around 15%.
